On The Edge (By Cat Matchuk)

I can no longer tell if this shadow
hidden
somewhere deep
was created or always was. Continue reading “On the Edge”
Words bring forward stars to forge a world from the ink, breathe, your heart will write.
I can no longer tell if this shadow
hidden
somewhere deep
was created or always was. Continue reading “On the Edge”
Is it possible to split this heart in two and give away the pieces?
They are sharp, jagged.
Not equal,
not perfect halves.

Relax
here’s a small pond
The water feels like needles pricking every inch of me
but never strong enough to rip me open
I never kept track of our kisses.
I can’t remember which one
was the last.
The pain is not a secret.
Although I throw scarred leather
over these bones,
the angles of my heart still rip through paper
It has been years since I knew who I was.
What I stood for,
and now I fall, I believe no longer.
I protect no one.
Recall every song,
recall every memory.
Whispers are frantic
your breath of hope could ache.
Day brought the shadows when it shone too bright,
created the darkness to dance with the light.
Blame the sun for burning,
fire on your skin,
and watch as the clouds abandon the sky.
You see me, you see right through,
past the flesh and into the heart.
Awaking from a dream just to stumble across the broken concrete of buildings,
you wish to be dreaming again, it’s better.
