Definition of Insanity

Definition of Insanity (By Cat Matchuk)

It happened again,
An unwelcomed guest
Crossed paths before
Over and
over again.

The ghost of herself says with a sickly smile, this is it.
This is the definition of insanity
to do it over again,
and again,
and again, and again,
expecting something to change.

I expected myself to change,
I did, here I am, ghost of myself.

I loved you once, never loved you again in the same way,
not out of bitterness,

it wasn’t meant in this lifetime.

The ghost of herself says, time is long when you’re in the middle of it.
This is the definition of insanity,
one more knot,
and tight,
and tight, and tight,
expecting not to wake up.

I expected nothing, anymore,
less chance of disappointment.

I loved myself once, I can do it again,
and again,
and again, and again.

Talking to her own shadow,
the definition of insanity.
