Possible

Is it possible to split this heart in two and give away the pieces?

They are sharp, jagged.
Not equal,
not perfect halves.

I give you the biggest piece wrapped in parchment, in a pathetic attempt to hide the truth.

Is it possible?

I know nothing will come of this, though I feel a desperate aching
and I must bury it.
Deep.

and it hurts.
It’s sharp, not warm or a perfect fit.

I bury my lover amidst words so that you won’t hear it.
You have a heart to love and mine doesn’t fit.

You’re my burden,

is it possible?

No
